MWDB named High Performing Workforce Board
Columbia…The Midlands Workforce Development Board has been recognized as a “High Performing” Board. The Board was evaluated by a team representing business, economic development, education and the SC State Workforce Investment Board on strategic planning, resource alignment, providing fiscal and program performance accountability of a Workforce System that provides for the needs of area employers, job seekers and youth.
Midlands Workforce development Board, a recipient of federal workforce funds, with responsibility for Fairfield, Lexington and Richland Counties, led the way among South Carolina's twelve areas. The Board was specifically commended for the leveraging of resources and working to develop strong partnerships with for profit business, non-profit and other state and local agencies to achieve its' mission of promoting economic growth and competitiveness in the Midlands region.
The Board will be formally recognized in January by the South Carolina Workforce Board at the annual Workforce Symposium in Columbia. The designation of High Performing Board also earned the Board an award of $25,000.00. Board Chair Reggie Murphy, making the announcement at the Board's regular October meeting, commended board members, staff and partners for all their hard work.
